Overview

Texas Data Center Watch tracks one data center project in Stonewall County: the Crusoe Stonewall County data center complex, listed as proposed / in development.

The Double Mountain Chronicle (Apr. 9, 2026) reported that Crusoe filed a tax abatement application for a data center campus on about 3,200 acres near the Flat Top and Greater Swenson parcels (Double Mountain Chronicle). A later Chronicle report says commissioners approved a reinvestment zone of about 1,300 acres within that earlier project area; Texas Data Center Watch has not opened the reinvestment-zone order itself (Double Mountain Chronicle). No megawatt figure appears in any record opened.

Abatement hearings cancelled: On June 16, 2026, the County Judge cancelled a June 22 public hearing, citing ongoing tax abatement negotiations with Crusoe Energy Systems LLC for a Data Center Complex (county notice). An August notice set a Sept. 28 hearing on the county's intent to enter a tax abatement agreement with Crusoe (meeting notice). On Sept. 22 that hearing was cancelled, again citing ongoing negotiations, with no new date given (county notice). As of Oct. 14, 2026, no new hearing date has been posted.

The Double Mountain Chronicle (Oct. 8) reports the county is waiting on state data center reviews that could extend into December (Double Mountain Chronicle).

Company application figures (via the Chronicle, not county guarantees): at least 80 permanent jobs at $100,000+ plus benefits, about $8M annual payroll after full buildout, and up to 5,000 peak construction workers; the application proposed a PILOT equal to 15% of real-property improvement taxes during the abatement (Double Mountain Chronicle). Neighbors raised noise, lighting, heat, water use and construction concerns (Double Mountain Chronicle).
