Last verified: October 27, 2026 · 5 tracked projects · 24 tracked records

Overview

Texas Data Center Watch tracks five data center projects in Medina County.

Project Cinco by Rowan Digital Infrastructure, listed as under construction. Rowan describes a 300 MW project that broke ground in September 2025 and is on track for completion in 2027 (Rowan). Rowan closed about $550M in construction financing and says the project represents at least $900M of direct local investment (Rowan).

Microsoft Castroville campus (SAT80, SAT81, SAT82) at 18844 FM 1957: SAT80 and SAT81 (106,012 sq ft each; est. $135M and $95M) were registered with TDLR July 26, 2023, and show completion dates of Aug. 31 and Sept. 30, 2024, with status Inspection Complete (TDLR SAT80; TDLR SAT81). SAT82 (one story, five colos, 244,676 sq ft, est. $482.6M) was registered July 25, 2024 at the same address, start Apr. 11, 2026, completion Feb. 8, 2028 (TDLR). A Dec. 17, 2025 filing also named SAT82 lists 3580 FM 471 N, Castroville (195,670 sq ft, est. $400M; start Aug. 13, 2026, completion July 24, 2028); the filings don't say how the two relate (TDLR). On May 13, 2024, the court approved 4-0 a Chapter 381 agreement under which Microsoft funds a county fire inspection program; the agenda summary gives $100,000 over a three-year term (minutes), and Devine News reported $100,000 a year (Devine News).

Microsoft SAT89/90 at 2995 US Hwy 90 W, Castroville: two single-story buildings, about 489,400 sq ft gross, est. $765M; registered Feb. 25, 2025, completion July 31, 2027 (TDLR). The court approved a plat creating Lot 1, SAT 89, Microsoft Corporation, on Nov. 27, 2023 (minutes).

Microsoft SAT93 and SAT94 on County Road 381: Feb. 2025 filings listed two 245,000 sq ft buildings at $350M each (TDLR SAT93; TDLR SAT94); Mar. 9, 2026 refilings describe "a new greenfield datacenter site" at $26M each, with starts in March and April 2027 and completions in 2029 (TDLR SAT93; TDLR SAT94). DCD reported the change and said it asked Microsoft about it (DCD). The TDLR filings list Medina County; Microsoft's community page describes the site as County Road 381 "in San Antonio" (Microsoft), so the county line rests on the TDLR filings.

CyrusOne SAT14A at 3397 US Hwy 90 W, west of Castroville: on Sept. 22, 2025, the court designated CyrusOne Reinvestment Zone 1 (about 244.3 acres) 4-0 (minutes), and on Nov. 3, 2025 it approved 4-0 a Chapter 312 abatement agreement with CyrusOne LP (minutes). Devine News reported an abatement of 80% of county maintenance and operations taxes for 10 years on a $600M, 500,000 sq ft project (Devine News). A July 16, 2026 TDLR registration lists a one-story 460,000 sq ft building at an estimated $500M, completion June 1, 2027 (TDLR). In draft Sept. 8, 2026 minutes, County Judge Lutz said the county's roughly $5.1M Data Center fund came from CyrusOne about 45 days after the agreement was signed and was requested for County Road 4516 road repairs (Oct. 2 agenda packet).

In the same draft Sept. 8 minutes, the court voted 4-0 to approve an agreement terminating the July 13, 2021 Chapter 381 agreement between Microsoft and Medina County; the minutes don't name a site (Oct. 2 agenda packet). A public commenter at the meeting said it covered about 2,006 acres near Potranco Road. That is the commenter's statement, not a county finding, and Texas Data Center Watch doesn't link the terminated agreement to any tracked Microsoft site.

City of Lytle hearing (Oct. 19): A NoticeRegistry listing (aggregator) gives an Oct. 19, 2026, 6:30 p.m. public hearing on a Rowan Lytle LLC request for Reinvestment Zone No. Two (~284.25 acres, ETJ) for a data center (NoticeRegistry (aggregator)). Texas Data Center Watch has not opened a city-hosted copy of the notice.

Note: "registered" means a state accessibility (TDLR) building registration, not an environmental permit or local approval.
